The Towngate Estate is Threlkeld's oldest charity, having been formed in 1744.  It currently owns four fields and money which is held in a charitable unit trust.  The income from letting the fields to local farmers and the financial return from the investments is distributed one third each to the School, the Church and the Deserving and Needy of Threlkeld.

There are sand bag boxes distributed throughout Threlkeld.  The Village Hall Car Park and Town Cross have been updated and now contain pre-filled sand bags ready for use in an emergency.
