2017 / 410 - Eden District Council & Cumbria County Council Representation

  • Cllr Richard Sealby advised that at the recent EDC meeting the proposed closure of the Crown Square Post Office was discussed, and EDC agreed to support the retention of the current post office.  The 2019/20 treasury statement was discussed, the calendar of ordinary meetings for 2019/20 were agreed, and an update was received from Rose Rouse regarding the staff review. 

2017 / 411 – Cumbria County Council Priorities

  • It was agreed that the priorities for Threlkeld Parish Council from Cumbria County Council are all highways related – postholes, drainage issues, blocked gullies etc. 

2017 / 412 – Suggestions for future use of the Telephone Box

  • The Clerk advised contact had been made with BT, who are now consulting EDC regarding the issue. 

2017 / 413 – Environment Agency Issues at Threlkeld Business Park

  • The sinkhole which has appeared due to the collapse of the culvert was discussed, and the report which has been seen by the land owner showing the condition of the culvert in October 2018 was discussed, and concern was raised regarding the 2 holes shown in the report, and that no action had been taken by the Environment Agency.  Following discussions, it was agreed for the Clerk to contact the Environment Agency with the following comments/concerns:
    • Photo of the culvert April 2018, compared with now
    • Concern over any increased flood risk to the village
    • Concern over the culvert/tunnel condition
    • If there were any more collapses are there any ideas where the water will go?
    • Will further collapses be prevented?
